Description

I recently spent $50+ to replace the logic board and ensure years of enjoyment. Also cleaned out all the dust inside etc.

This model has webcam/mic and speakers

WORKS PERFECTLY WITH 2010s Macbook Pro that still has the old style USB ports and a mini display port out.
this is the best setup that is guaranteed to work.

If you use an older Mac that has MagSafe power port, standard usb, and a Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt hole, this will work very easily for you! Feel free to bring laptop over to test it out.

FOR NEWER MACS:
The issue I've noticed is trying to use lots of usb-c adapters and the controls for the external display brightness just don't seem to register automatically the way they did with older Macs.

If newer Mac, it can be a hassle to use the original LED cinema display. you’ll need lots of adapters:

Monitor a Mini DisplayPort plug for older macs. To use with a newer usb-c Mac you’ll need to get a usb-c hub that has a Mini DisplayPort hole. NOT a thunderbolt hole. Example: amzn .to/3WoAZ2A (remove space)

For the monitor to pass power thru the hub to your laptop, you need a magnetic power adapter I’ll give you that takes the old magnet power cable from monitor and plugs via usb-c into the hub you will get. Example: amzn .to/3C1RlG5 (remove space)

To control brightness, you need to make sure your hub has old school USB port for the usb cable from the monitor. This also allows you to plug keyboard, iPhone, etc into the three USB ports on the back of the monitor.

These two adapters will allow you to take advantage of all the cables on the monitor and ensure you only have ONE usb-c cable hogging space on your laptop. It will also enable you to take advantage of using the monitor as a usb hub.
